Four months after charges were initially filed, a Millmont woman is facing a preliminary hearing stemming from a September incident, in which police said she paid someone to beat up a Milton High School student.
Veronica Irene Ulrich, 35, faces one count of simple assault, a misdemeanor, and one count of harassment, a summary offense, according to court documents.
Charges were first filed by Milton police days after the Sept. 11 incident, but were later withdrawn and the case was handed over the state police over a possible conflict of interest concerns due to Ulrich’s relationship with now-retired officer Kenneth Royer.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Jan. 9 in front of District Judge Richard Cashman.
According to police, Ulrich was upset that a 15-year-old boy had beaten up her daughter during the summer and “she wanted to have the same thing happen to” him. Milton police confirmed that a fight between the youths had taken place, but that no charges were filed.
After seeing the young man on the street on Sept. 10, Ulrich allegedly approached a group of five or six unidentified Hispanic males standing along Broadway Street in the borough. She pulled over and asked if they knew the boy Ulrich was looking for, police said. Ulrich then allegedly offered one of the men $25 to beat up the young man, according to police.
