BEAVERTOWN — Borough officials are asking aspiring artists to design a logo to commemorate Beavertown’s 200th anniversary this year.
Anyone wishing to enter the logo contest must submit an entry by April 2. The winner will be chosen on April 6 and will be announced in the Beavertown News. He or she will also be presented with a bicentennial souvenir displaying his or her design.
Mayor Cloyd Wagner said the logo will be placed on all bicentennial items being sold or used to celebrate the milestone birthday.
Plans for the bicentennial include a weekend exhibition of historical photographs, documents and objects; a republishing of an historic book about Beavertown; and a spring and autumn walking tour. Crocks with the bicentennial logo design will be sold to raise funds for the Beavertown library.
Entries for the logo contest may be submitted in electronic format to contest@beavertownnews.com, or on 8½- by 11-inch paper to Logo Contest, P.O. Box 268, Beavertown, PA 17813.
