SELINSGROVE — The investigation into the March 18 rape of a female visitor to the Susquehanna University campus continues, but Snyder County District Attorney Michael Piecuch is releasing no details.
“The investigation is still ongoing, but I’m not at liberty to discuss it,” he said Monday.
A 23-year-old woman visiting the campus was assaulted as she walked between Scholar’s House and Theta Chi fraternity between 3 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on March 18.
Evidence collected included DNA, but Piecuch would not comment on whether the tests have been completed or are conclusive.
The university has positioned 11 security cameras around the campus, including some in the area of the alleged rape, but apparently none were equipped with night-vision capabilities.
Unconfirmed reports are that a Susquehanna University student who graduated this spring is a suspect.
Piecuch will not comment on the report, but said he’s certain the university and Selinsgrove borough police have taken the proper steps to ensure public safety.
“This is an unusual crime for our area, but I’m confident in the safety measures they’ve taken,” he said.
