A four-day search in Bald Eagle State Forest last week ended with the discovery Friday of the body of an adult man near the Spruce Run Reservoir in Union County, state and county officials confirmed Monday.
The man’s body was found late Friday afternoon near Spruce Run Road, about 11 miles northwest of Lewisburg, said Amy Griffith, district forester for Bald Eagle State Forest, part of the Bureau of Forestry under the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The Bureau of Forestry is responsible for searches on its land and therefore directed the search, Griffith said. Pennsylvania State Police briefly assisted in the search, she said.
The Bureau of Forestry could not release the man’s name or cause of death, Griffith said, and referred the Daily Item to the Union County Coroner’s Office.
Brad Miller, Union County’s deputy coroner, handled the investigation.
