SUNBURY — More theft charges have been filed against a Visiting Nursing Association personal care attendant accused of stealing from clients.
Kristin Ann Bowersox, 40, of 570 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland, was arraigned last week on charges felony burglary and criminal trespass, and misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and falsely impersonating persons privately employed. She is accused of stealing $180 from Charles Ruff’s Lahrs Road home March 1.
At the time, Bowersox had been suspended from the Sunbury agency for allegedly stealing $400 from another client two months earlier, according to a criminal complaint filed by Point Township police.
The client, Violet Bastress, of Strawbridge Road, Northumberland, was at first hesitant to press charges until she was informed that Bowersox allegedly admitted taking her money.
On Jan. 9, Bastress said she gave Bowersox a $400 check to cash at the bank and when the money was turned over to her, she hid it in a trash can inside her home.
When Bastress went to retrieve the money a little while later, it was gone.
Bowersox initially denied taking the cash, but later admitted to police that, at her husband’s urging, she kept it.
She was also arraigned on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Released on $30,000 cash bail set by District Judge Robert J. Bolton, Bowersox is scheduled to appear Wednesday at a preliminary hearing.
