MIFFLINBURG — A 19-year-old Florida man was listed in critical condition Sunday night with injuries suffered when the car he was riding in crashed into a parked tractor, pushing both vehicles into the side of a barn in Buffalo Township, Union County.
Hesley D. Griffis, of Lautey, Fla., was flown by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following the accident at 11:18 p.m. Saturday.
Griffis was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Cheyenne A. Moll, 19, of Mifflinburg. State police at Milton said she lost traction while speeding around a left curve on Baker Hollow Road, causing the car to slide counter-clockwise before leaving the road and striking the large farm tractor with the passenger side of her vehicle.
Personnel from the Mifflinburg Hose Company had to remove the roof of the car to free the occupants.
Moll suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Geisinger, police said.
She was wearing a seat belt, but Griffis was not, troopers said.
Moll was cited with not driving at a safe speed.
