DANVILLE — A 76-year-old Mifflinburg man has died as a result of injuries suffered when his motor scooter hit a car nine days ago on Route 45.
Dean LaRue Bierly, of 136 Reber Road, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
According to state police at Milton, Bierly rear-ended a 2003 Toyota Camry that had stopped on Route 45 near Groves Road in Buffalo Township, Union County, at 3:05 p.m. Sept. 2.
Troopers said Catherine M. Nentwig, 79, of Lewisburg, had stopped for a vehicle in front of her that was making a left turn across traffic. Neither Nentwig nor a passenger in her vehicle were injured.
Bierly was critically injured and taken by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He becomes the 13th person to die on Valley roads this year. Last year, 29 people died as a result of crashes on Valley roads.
